When Rogue One was in theaters, I did not expect it would be one of my favorite Star Wars movies all time. So, when I heard they were making a series about Cassian, I was cautiously hopeful about the new series. It was great to see Diego Luna again on my screen. The way they opened up Cassian’s background kept me glued behind the screen and also the other new characters we got from both sides. The actors did such a phenomenal job that I can’t praise them enough. Stellan Skarsgård as Luthen… He is just perfect. He should get awards from Andor and I hope he does. The series have some of the best new characters that Star Wars has ever gotten and none of them are Jedis. This is not that kind of a story.

If the cast was great then I can’t praise enough the shooting locations and the cinematography. I mean, they were beautiful and the whole series felt like a long movie. This all included the costume design and how amazingly they used everything they had. And the cherry on top was the music to all this. Different episodes had different feel with the music and I loved them all. It was like the series were presenting all the Science Fiction movies that are out there with its score. Directly which movies come to mind are Tron and Blade Runner.

Surprisingly, there were not that many special effects in the series even if it is Star Wars, but when there were, they were peak movie quality too. I really can’t complain about them, because Andor is truly the whole package. There was not a lot of action scenes either, but when they were they were fully thought through and carefully planned. The surroundings were planned well and the scenes were captivating and sometimes you just looked at the screen in awe. There were so many memorable scenes in the series that I lost count of how many there were. I am glad we will get season 2 from Andor. I really can’t wait.

Rogue Onen ilmestyttyä elokuvateattereihin, en olisi uskonut, että se nousisi yhdeksi lempi Star Wars elokuvistani. Otin varovaisen innostuneena tiedon vastaan, kun kuulin heidän tekevän uutta sarjaa, joka pohjautuisi Cassianin-hahmoon. Diego Lunan näkeminen ruudulla jälleen oli mukavaa. Cassianin tautatarinan avautuminen piti minut liimattuna ruudun ääressä, kuten muutkin molempien puolien kiinnostavat uudet hahmot. Näyttelijät tekivät niin jämäkkää työtä etten pysty heitä edes tarpeeksi kehumaan siitä. Stellan Skarsgård Luthenina on täydellinen. Toivottavasti hän saa paljon palkintoja roolistaan Andorissa. Sarjassa on minusta parhaimmat uudet hahmot mitä Star Warssissa on vähään aikaan ollut ja yksikään niistä ei ole Jedi. Tämä ei olekaan sellainen tarina.

Vaikka vuodatin vuolaasti kehuja näyttelijäkaartista, sen ansaitsevat myös kuvaus ja kuvauspaikat. Ne olivat ilmiömäiset ja saivat sarjan tuntumaan pitkältä elokuvalta. Pukusuunnittelu sisältyi myös näihin kahteen ja kuinka mestarillisesti kaikkia näitä käytettiin. Ja kaiken kruunasi tietysti vielä musiikki. Se oli sävelletty teemallisesti eri jaksoihin ja pidin niistä kaikista. Tuntui kuin sarja esittelisi sävellyksillään musiikkia kaikista tieteiselokuvista mitä maa päällään kantaa. Tällä hetkellä elokuvista mieleeni tulevat Tron ja Blade Runner.

Erikoisefektejä ei ollut Star Warsin kategoriassa kovinkaan paljon, mikä yllätti ainakin minut. Toisaalta, kun niitä tarvittiin, niin ne olivat elokuvalaatuisia. Niistäkään ei ole mitään valitettavaa, koska Andor on taidolla kasattu paketti. Toimintakohtauksetkin olivat harvassa, mutta niillä olivat omat tarkoituksensa ja paikkansa. Ne olivat huolitellusti suunniteltu ja tarkasti läpimietitty. Tapahtumapaikat kartoitettiin hyvin, kohtaukset nappasivat mukaansa ja välillä ruutua ei pystynyt muuta kuin tuijottamaan ihastuksissaan. Sarjassa tapahtui niin monta ikimuistoista kohtausta, että menin jo laskuissani sekaisin kuinka monta niitä oli. Onneksi saamme toisen tuotantokauden Andorista. Odotan sitä innolla.
